Curriculum Development, Learning & Teaching

In this website we aim to share with physiotherapy educators some useful information about curriculum development and learning outcomes in physiotherapy education that we have gained through our own work and through talking with educators, employers, graduates and students.

What do we mean by the 'curriculum' and 'learning outcomes' in physiotherapy?

We consider the physiotherapy curriculum to be the total learning experience provided for physiotherapy students by a university, including the content of courses (the syllabus), the clinical experiences, the teaching methods employed, the assessment activities and other aspects, such as institutional standards and expectations, which relate to the way the institution is organised.

Learning outcomes refer to what students learn and what they are expected to know, understand, or be able to do as a result of a learning process.
